Justin Newton (30 yo of Mineral Springs)

A little before 2 a.m. on March 3, 2016, deputies Travis Turner and Tim Bolin were patrolling in the Sand Hill area when they noticed a Yukon driven by Justin Newton and Turner and Bowlin knew Newton to have a suspended drivers license. Newton accelerated when Turner turned his car around to stop Newton. Newton continued driving fast crossing Pine St and driving through the ditch and through some yards in the area. Newton drove back to Collins Road and went toward Hempstead County at speeds over 80 mph. When Newton crossed over into Hempstead County with Turner chasing him Newton stopped quickly and put his hands out of the driver’s window. Turner arrested Newton while Bowlin arrested the female passenger, Kayla Pryor. Nashville Police officers arrived to assist the Deputies with the stop. Lt. Clinton Tedford assisted deputies while Officers Jimmy Steeley and Jackie Thomas transported Newton and Pryor to jail after deputies found two zip lock bags containing suspected methamphetamine between the driver’s door and seat of the Yukon Newton was driving. Pryor was released after being interviewed at the jail. Newton was booked into the jail on felony charges of Possession of Controlled Substance with Purpose to Deliver (Methamphetamine), Fleeing, and a misdemeanor charge of Driving on Suspended License. No bond has been set at the time of this press release.
