Howard County Jail Administrator attends 911 Telecommunicators Course

The Howard County Jail Administrator, Jana Tallant, attended a three day 911 Telecommunicators Course at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy in East Camden this week. This training is the first effort for 911 Dispatchers in Arkansas to be trained on a statewide level. ACT 640 was passed by the Arkansas Legislature during the 2011 General Session and provided for the training to be funded and conducted. 911 professionals in the state saw the need for structured training many years ago and began promoting changes. Telecommunicators will be trained in telephone techniques, call classification, radio techniques and other responsibilities of the highly stressful career choice. All of the 911 Dispatchers in Howard County will get this training in the future as we try to better serve the citizens of Howard County.
